Fellow Bio:

Thomas Brown (He/Him/His, They/Them/Theirs) grew up in the greater Sacramento, CA area, and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2021 with Bachelors in Political Science, History, and Legal Studies, with minors in Public Policy, and Political Economy. Thomas greatly enjoys learning and reading about the nexus points of political events and economic trends, and the implications these points have on individual’s lives. Thomas has specific policy interests in housing, infrastructure, LGBTQIA+ equality, and tackling climate change. For fun, Thomas likes to try locally owned coffee roasters and their vegan offerings. Thomas is serving as a second year CivicSpark Fellow at the California Department of Housing and Community Development with special project focus on the Gateway Cities of southeast Los Angeles County. In this role, Thomas will be reviewing Prohousing Designation Program applications and Regional Early Action Planning (REAP) funding, as well as completing housing legislative bill analysis. Additionally, Thomas has a leadership project in the LGBTQIA+ Affinity Space for community-building and professional development of the LGBTQIA+ identifying cohort.
