Shaima is the Project Manager for CivicSpark Colorado. Originally from Denver, she joined CivicSpark in 2022 to assist with the program’s expansion to Colorado.
A current MA candidate in Urban and Regional Planning at CU Denver’s College of Architecture and Planning, Shaima has a BA in Sociology from CU Boulder and an MA in Responsible Management and Sustainable Development from the UN University for Peace. Her project management experience was gained through work with international nonprofits focused on empowering underserved communities abroad. Prior to joining CivicWell, she served in various administrative roles at INTERLINK International Institutes, an ESL pathway program that provided support and preparation to international students pursuing a higher education in the U.S.
Shaima serves as a board member for the nonprofit Angelica Village and spends her free time exploring Denver’s parks and coffee shops. She enjoys learning how sustainable design can make it easier for people to live healthier, more connected, and eco-friendly lives.
