Arlin is focused on environmental and community outreach work. Early in his childhood, he had opportunities to engage in volunteer work around outreach and providing community residents in multiple communities around Marin County, CA, the resources that support healthy quality lives. These experiences sparked a genuine interest in public service, which led Arlin to study city planning at the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with a B.A. in Urban Studies in 2018.
Joining CivicSpark for the 2019-2020 service year, Arlin worked with the County of Tulare Resource Management Agency to develop an Environmental Justice (EJ) Element pursuant to Senate Bill 1000. Throughout his fellowship, Arlin conducted environmental studies to measure adverse effects on disadvantaged communities, supplemented with community engagement activities.
Arlin’s personal interests are physical fitness and performance psychology, nutrition, reading self-growth books, and learning and practicing various modalities of meditation. Fellows can make contact to seek help with developing strategies for and conducting civic engagement, improving public speaking skills, and/or if in need of emotional support.
