Mariah Thomson serves as the Program Implementation Coordinator with CivicSpark, bringing expertise in leadership development, mentorship, and training facilitation. She strives to cultivate confidence in our Fellows as they embark on their climate career journeys. Mariah first joined the CivicSpark team as a Regional Coordinator for the Washington region in 2023. She is an alum of two AmeriCorps programs. At EarthCorps, she led crews in habitat restoration and trail building projects. As an Individual Placement with the Washington Conservation Corps, she coordinated stream restoration projects, wrote forest management plans, and managed volunteer events at a conservation district. Prior to joining the CivicSpark team, she was managing an environmental job training program for high school youth.
Mariah has a B.A. in Environmental Policy & Sociology from the University of Puget Sound. She is passionate about community centric approaches to land management and climate mitigation. She grew up in the foothills of the Sierras in an area called Apple Hill, CA. She now resides in Seattle where she enjoys the Cascade mountains to the east and the Olympics to the west. When not on the trails, she can be found playing soccer, writing poetry, reading suspense novels, or cooking for metabolic health.
