The Corona Energy Resilience Analysis will address the City of Corona‘s energy usage and explore methods for energy savings at specific City-owned infrastructure. The City has identified high energy usage among its facilities and is seeking to identify the cause for these levels and implement strategies to improve its energy efficiency.

Project Description

Corona Energy Resilience Study

The goal of the project is to identify and carry out actionable energy improvements for Corona facilities to improve energy efficiency and increase energy savings potential throughout the City. The Fellow will be responsible for the following:

  • Serve as the primary contact between the Inland Regional Energy Network (IREN) and City of Corona;
  • Analyze IREN’s utility data for City of Corona facilities and assist City staff with establishing a priority list for facilities that require attention;
  • Work with staff to identify and implement actionable steps for selected facilities to improve the City’s energy efficiency.

The Fellow’s participation in the project will help the City of Corona in its mission to implement strategic energy initiatives to increase energy efficiency throughout its facilities.

The Fellow would be placed in the Public Works Department. In addition to working on energy resilience goals, this department is responsible for traffic management, street maintenance, environmental services and the City’s Fleet program. The City operates on a 4/10 schedule (10 hours, Monday thru Thursday) and is closed on Friday.

The City of Corona is currently working on several exciting projects to increase the quality of life for its residents, including revitalizing its downtown area, upgrading local parks and hosting new community events. Working with the City during this exciting time will provide the Fellow with a meaningful and rewarding fellowship.
