Service Needs & Plans

The Washington State Department of Commerce’s mission is to strengthen communities by addressing a variety of needs and conditions in manner that recognizes the needs for individual and societal wellbeing. The Energy Policy Office includes efforts to address climate change through decarbonization and reduction in harmful greenhouse gases in equitable and just ways. The project(s) will augment these efforts by the fellow learning and applying modern laws and techniques to particular current problems.

Project Description

This fellow will provide assistance in clean transportation projects. Commerce and the fellow will select, develop, and implement a project or projects that are consistent with the fellow’s interests and goals, involve learning about policy processes and subjects, include public engagement and environmental justice concepts and practices, and contribute to the art and science of delivering public services in the clean transportation arena. The fellowship will include a schedule and agreed-upon list of deliverables as well as provide information that the fellow can use in future endeavors. This project will address climate change through advancing the transition to clean transportation and reducing greenhouse gases and the carbon footprint. It will involve aspects of public engagement including equity/justice considerations in designing and implementing agency programs. The Commerce and fellow will work together to identify projects within the fellow’s area of interest that advances the State of Washington goals.
