The Energy Smart Eastside Program Fellow is an exciting role to support the growth and success of a new residential electrification program in the Eastside cities of Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Issaquah, and Mercer Island, WA. The Fellow will support outreach and engagement efforts for the joint Energy Smart Eastside program, which is working to accelerate the adoption of energy efficient heat pumps and supporting the achievement of the greenhouse gas emissions reductions goals in all five Eastside cities. Specific tasks will include support with program marketing, delivery, promotion, and engagement with residents. Project DescriptionThe Energy Smart Eastside program is a new joint program led by the cities of Redmond, Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, and Mercer Island. The Fellow will be responsible for residential outreach, case management, and coordination to accelerate program adoption. Specific duties will include:
Program Coordination:
– Provide program support and coordination for the Energy Smart Eastside program.
– Provide case management and support for residents seeking to install energy efficient heat pumps.
– Use an equity lens to identify opportunities to improve the program and reach communities of color, low and moderate income, renters, and non-English speaking.
Program Marketing and Promotion
– Support program marketing and identify strategies and partners for reaching diverse communities.
– Provide one-on-one support for residents to support their accessing program benefits and incentives.
– Develop content to promote the program via newsletter, social media, and other channels
– Support the coordination of regional and city specific events related to Energy Smart Eastside, which could involve leading workshops or coordinating partner presenters.
– Coordinate with Cultural Outreach Assistants to support targeted outreach to communities of color in the five Eastside cities, to support diverse participation in the program.
Willingness to learn energy efficiency programs to support electrification.
Experience with community outreach techniques, including social marketing.
Exceptional customer service.
Demonstrated skill in delivering affective and persuasive presentations to community members.
Organization & Community HighlightsThe position will work with a cross-jurisdictional team of city sustainability managers in Redmond, Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, and Mercer Island. The program also includes multiple non-profit partners, further expanding the Fellow’s exposure to the climate action landscape in King County. A core element of the Fellow’s work will be supporting outreach for the Boost incentive program, which offers full cost coverage installations for low income community members in the participating jurisdictions.
Redmond and the Eastside are located in the scenic and economically important region between the Cascade mountain range and the Puget Sound. The region boasts a high quality of life, good schools, a healthy economic base, a robust park system providing multiple active and passive recreational activities, diverse options for shopping and dining, and a balance for quality development while protecting the natural environment.
